Bio: I am a Full Professor of Statistics and Data Science at the University of Caen, within the Laboratory of Mathematics Nicolas Oresme (LMNO), UMR CNRS 6139, and the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, since September 2016.
In September 2022, I obtained a secondment to join the research and technology institute IRT SystemX (a Foundation of Scientific Cooperation (FCS), a Non-Profit Organization) in Paris-Saclay, where I serve as an Expert Researcher and the Scientific Head of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.
Since 2024, I have also held the position of Professeur Attaché (Affiliated Professor) of AI at Université Paris-Saclay, where I teach Optimization and Machine Learning in the Master of Science programs in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.
I was a Visiting Professor (June to September 2019) at the University of Queensland, Department of Mathematics, working with Geoff McLachlan, and an Adjunct Visiting Professor (September 2020 to January 2021) at La Trobe University, Department of Mathematics and Statistics, working with Hien D. Nguyen.
From 2011 to 2015, I was first Assistant and then Associate Professor of Computer Science and Machine Learning at the University of Toulon, in the Department of Computer Science and the Information Sciences and Systems Lab (LSIS), UMR CNRS 7296.
Between 2007 and 2011, I served as Lecturer and then Assistant Professor (ATER) at Paris 13 University, within the Department of Computer Science and the Machine Learning team of LIPN, UMR CNRS 7030.
In 2015–2016, I was granted a CNRS research leave at the Laboratory of Mathematics Paul Painlevé, UMR CNRS 8524, and was also a Visiting Scientist at INRIA Modal in Lille. In 2019–2020, I was awarded a national CRCT (CNU) semester research leave.
I obtained my Accreditation to Direct Research (Habilitation à Diriger les Recherches) in December 2015 from the University of Toulon within the LSIS Laboratory and my Ph.D. in December 2010 from the University of Technology of Compiègne, within Heudiasyc UMR CNRS 7253 and IFSTTAR Laboratories. I earned my Master’s degree in June 2007 from Paris 6 (Pierre and Marie Curie) University.
My primary research interests include statistical inference and machine learning, latent variable models, and unsupervised learning in high-dimensional and large-scale scenarios.
